there's a bad experience i had with this boat. i wont mention the brand now. it's light enough that the water swamped the deck. it didnt get broken, but it let loads of water in! now i need a new deck for river running, one that's not easy to destroy, bomb proof (?), and can stand well when beaten by rocks!

so if money wasn't an issue, what do you think is the best one i can get that can pass through the criteria?

I bought this 2nd hand mountain surf deck for my squirt boat & it was effective, it kept me dry. But i heard elephant decks are also worth checking & trying!

Both are good anyway. And way better than shelf models because they have variety of sizes. Plus they're easier to put on & they will less likely let the water in!

what may be ideal as bomber gear are mountain surf decks. they stay put for kayaking adventure & they are also very much easy to assemble. they are very solid and less likely to fall apart.. but they come in limited number of stocks only..

Nookie decks comes with really good quality. You don't just throw them over to one side bcause it is also a top range shock deck. Mine have undergone really huge impacts in sea kayaking trips several times. And it's not even destroyed yet! You can just check the seal surrounding your cockpit & the size of your kayak deck to know w/c size fits best.. A good seal is always required, remember that!

I am using a Nookie V shock deck. It's the one i have ever since on my creek boat. And lucky enough, i didn't seem to have any problems with it at all.. Only that they are a bit tight when new. And when i say tight, it's REALLY TIGHT!!

I never really owned a nookie deck, but there was this paddler i've been with during one of my kayaking trips & he thinks nookie decks are no good! But then playboater decks have solid & good customer feedback! And it's better that u prefer a deck with a dry lip esp for a shallow cockpit rim! And playboaters are good!
