Hello!
One thing i found out is that when i finished paddling & i'm in the kayak, the back end seems to come around & i always end up running in circles!
Is that really meant to happen? Or maybe there's something wrong with my kayak? What do you think?
Thank u!

talk with your coach. although i think it's probably that u might be pressing harder w/ ur one foot than the other. or maybe u're not holding your kayak paddles evenly or you are giving each side a different stroke length.. but then im not sure haha! i really cannot tell until i can see u kayaking in person! but dont despair if you're running in circles. up to now, may of us stil undergo that phase! haha

No worries! It's all about getting a feel of what's really happening when you take a paddle stroke while canoeing and kayaking. You'll soon get the hang of it when u practice.. But the most common problem i see is when the person does not hold the paddle evenly that results to having more leverage on one side than the other. Avoid that.

when canoeing and kayaking, you will always fight against something that we call a spinning momentum! This gets in the moment u stop paddling & you will end up facing the other way. This happens more often to smaller boats since they have a flat bottom & turn more easily. One solution of stopping it is by putting a stern rudder on the opposite side to w/c u are always turning. Practice! And u won't even notice you're actually way past it!

The same thing keeps on happening to me before, when i was just a beginner in the sport..
JUST try to hold you paddle much closer to the boat, that may help you a lot.
Go paddle out & come back here after! And let us know if you've gained some progress with our kayaking instructions.
All right?

hhmmm.. i think kayak paddles might have something to do with that. but your body also needs to be balanced for that not to happen. That was the first thing my kayak instructor/friend told me (as far as I can remember. ) the first time I tried it. It wasn't easy though. .

If you're still not comfortable with ur own kayaking skills, then perhaps the most impt advice i can give you is to always try to paddle with a group. So that if you ever encounter difficulties, your companions can assist you immediately. Then you'll be surprised eventually on how fast you're able to improve and overcome that trouble you encounter after paddling. And maybe you can also see or join a kayaking club in your area.
