When buying a new boat, i know that its weight is also a factor to consider before you do the final purchase. But how much consideration do you usually put on that factor?

It is an important factor esp if u usually haul your kayak on the top of your car and whenever u take long distance travels. Not only that, i give more consideration to lighter paddle boats. Generally, they can faster & are livelier in whitewater kayaking...

agree with what kayak4moving said. the advantage of lighter kayaks is that they are more responsive when turning and that they can accelerate more easily. If you're having a dilemma, then i say go for the lighter kayak because after some kayaking tours, you'll be thankful every time u lift ur kayak on your car rack.
