Hello I am brand new to the sport and am having trouble finding an real information on how to get started. I am in north eastern ohio and I want to paddle the ohio and PA rivers nothing to severe class 1 or 2. I want to paddle for the scenery, exercise, and just being able to escape for everything. I am thinking about getting this kayak http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O3AVNY/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER Now I have a ford fusion so a hardshell isn't really an option. I am looking at the backbone accessory for it. So my questions. 1. Is this a decent kayak when everything is said and done I am going to be out about 1K for kayak and gear so I want to make sure this is an informed purchase. 2. When does the season begin? Can I kayak now, its 50 here and the water is still recovering from winter. What kind of gear would I need. 3. How do I get started from getting into the boat to doing rolls when i tip. I see classes but in my area they aren't until almost july and I have add this itch to scratch for 2 years now. I just keep putting it off. Not anymore :) 4. How do you determine what rivers are what class and what their current conditions are? Sorry for all the questions but like I said I am brand new to the sport and VERY eager to get started.
