First, sea kayaking is dangerous especially during winter. So make sure to paddle the ocean/sea during spring. Take note, a drysuit is a must-have

Second, take some lessons from a qualified sea kayaking instructor for a more enjoyable & SAFER play of the sport.

Third, try every gear and equipment before buying. Esp for the boats, try several kinds first so you'll know what would work for your practice/knowledge.

Fourth, be careful when carrying your boat. Most of the injuries in sea kayaking occur when launching a kayak to and from the water.

Lastly, have fun! for me, sea kayaking is a very soothing physical & mental activity.

sea kayaking is worth all the practice and time! it's very easy to do but it takes patience to learn it. yes, and i also agree that you do it in spring and never during winter. rent and try several boats, as many as you can, and decide where u are most comfortable to paddle with and how they feel in every controlled situation.

Find a buddy. Look for great deals in equipment!

Good luck

I had my first kayaking at the sea. Since my friends know that I like to kayak, they asked me to join them when they had their sea kayaking tour. Since it's safer than river kayaking with rocks and all, they knew that sea kayaking is quite best for beginners. And I really enjoyed it a lot, very relaxing!

Good thing you asked questions & seeked for assistance before you even jumped into sea kayaking. Simple kayaking tips to keep in mind... Bring ur PFD with you and remember that the distance you take must still depend on the level of your kayaking skills. And be sure your have a kayak that is appropriate for the type of kayaking tour you're having.

And above all else, ENJOY YOURSELF.

Sea kayaking is indeed an addictive hobby! But believe me when i say it can also be dangerous
So aside from the tips mentioned, do not forget the safety rules in the river. Always bring your GPS with you & LEARN something about navigation..
Lastly, listen to weather forecasts before heading out!

Sea kayaking is much dangerous compared to your ordinary kayaking trips. So keep in mind to use the buddy system all the time. and to never go beyond ur skill level, be extra cautious esp that you're still new to SEA kayaking...

and AGAIN, bring a lifejacket & a helmet! and the most appropriate signaling device. and ur first aid kit too!
