I am looking for a new throw bag and i am considering getting the palm one. I would like to know how long does a throw bag should really be? Do i need to get the biggest one i could?

Just a few tips, stay away from spectra rope. Just go for Polypropylene because it floats, it's lighter, and you'll get 25m instead of 20 for the same weight. I have two, a 20m & 25m & i always carry both.

I always carry a 20m bag with at least one 30m being somewhere within the group. Everyone in the group tends to have a 20m or 25m bag along with the basics of a pin kit. Except from the bag, everything else associated with rescue is carried in the PFD for quick access. Anyway, I rest my bag in the water bottle holder so it would be easy to grab even when we're bailing out. Whatever it is you go for, make sure you know how to use it and ideally, get trained up!

You may want to check on the palm alpine lines with a spectra core because they are thicker. Because if you try & do a Z drag using a thin rope, it will go to the wire & can be incredibly tough to hold on to. thin line, i guess, are fine for swimmer rescuing because they are light & easy but are no good for rescuing boats.
i use a palm alpine 15m bag & i still plan to get a longer bag for pins.
and as for the length, it's not ideal to buy a 20m line if you can only throw it away at 10m. you should always give your self at least extra 3m on top of your throwing distance for rescues and the slack you pull out of the bag before you throw it.

My friends have the
same bag from palm alpine, it was such an easy handle when used in kayaking. Just recently I just bought the 20m line . I haven't used this one since I don't have plans for kayaking yet, probably next year. but with all the bags used for kayak, Palm alpine was one of the best, all my friends are recommending it! I'll still have to see it myself.
