Rapids in south east asia are the least travelled. The cagayan river that extends from chico river in North Philippines is one of the more popular rapids in the Philippine islands. When i was there almost 5 years ago a young girl named bugni told me a brief history about this river which is also considered sacred by many indigenous groups. tribes fought for the safety of this river from mining companies attempting to penetrate the place. Now, it is used for kayaking and rafting! The view is amazing and the weather is terrific. You will see here many forrests that surround you 360 degrees. I wish to come back again.

the tribes are still there, although some of their land has been taken away from them. it's a little sad, really. however, there are many groups who are in favor of preserving the land and keeping it free from commercialism.

In Brazil there is rafting on the Iguaçu River where you will be welcomed by Many wild rapids for about 4 km, 2 km of calmer waters where it is possible to swim in the river.
