Paddle Boats

Remember the swan Paddle Boats in movies and theme parks? Think they are boring and just for kids? Think again. Paddle Boats are an easy and comfortable way to explore nature’s beautiful lakes and rivers.
A Paddle Boat is a type of water craft driven by wheel with large, flat surfaces extending perpendicularly from the center of the wheel. The flat surfaces or “paddles” propel the craft forward. The Paddle Boat normally seats two people, each with their own pedals connected to the paddle wheel which powers the craft forward. A lever placed between the two seats control the rudder which steers the craft left or right, depending on what angle it makes with the centerline. Nowadays, there are Paddle Boats which can seat three people or more.
Nowadays, Paddle Boats come in different sizes, designs, and features. There are various types which can seat three people or more.
A Paddle Boat should have comfortable seats preferably with adjustable seating to accommodate different heights of the passengers. Easy pedaling, better speed, and propulsion can best be achieved when the paddle wheel is well-connected to the pedals. An efficient mechanism between the lever and the rudder enables responsive and trouble-free steering ease.
It may sound complicated but a typical Paddle Boat is easy to operate, making it a kid's favorite. There are also durable and heavy duty Paddle Boats built for exploring larger bodies of water. These are made with high density material that can withstand big waves and rugged weather. However, don’t expect Paddle Boats to be fast water vehicles because these water crafts tend to have a maximum speed depending on the design of the paddle wheel. After a certain point, pedaling faster will not help. At best, expect only a couple of miles per hour unless you happen to be in a strong current.
Paddle Boats are especially useful in family outings especially with kids. Also, the use of a Paddle Boat is actually a great exercise. It is easier on your knees than walking or running and you get to enjoy stunning views as you paddle.
