Pre-Kayak Training
Develop your strength and endurance so you will be able to meet the demands of Kayaking, a physical activity that will make use of the entire body.
Improve your speed and power by doing several exercises that will stretch and strengthen all your muscles. At first, some may think that only the upper body does all the work. Kayaking uses not only our torso but also our legs, especially in several Paddling strokes. Therefore, make sure that your Pre-Kayak Training works out the entire body. This will make your Kayaking Skills more efficient and will help lessen the chances of getting sprains, back pain, and injuries.
Quads are also used in paddling strokes and rotation of the upper body so make sure to work out those muscles. Activities such as Running and cycling are good forms of training especially for the quads. These help in toning your muscles and improving strength and endurance. These are also good cardiovascular exercises and can improve all-round fitness.
You can also go swimming. This is an excellent form of full-body exercise. Try doing different strokes so you can fully benefit from this activity.
As a safety guideline, do your training slowly and in moderation. In addition, make sure to listen to your body when you train for Kayaking. Do not go beyond your limitations. Be careful when doing these activities and exercises to avoid having sprains and injuries even before that actual Kayaking trip.
Whatever type of training you do, whether it be Running, cycling or swimming, do it in moderation and aim for a good full-body workout. Regular exercises will help you avoid injuries so you can have more Kayaking experiences to remember.
